7 Must-Know (Easy) Home Selling Secrets

Greater Seminole County Real Estate Report 11-25-20: Want to sell your home quickly and for the best price? Then you need to know these 7 easy home selling secrets!

7 home selling secrets Gitta SellsReady to sell your Central Florida home? Before you do a quick cleaning and slap-up a “For Sale” sign in the front yard, follow these seven selling secrets to help you sell your home quicker and for more money!

1. Let the Light In

Well lighted rooms are on the must-have list of most buyers. They want a house that lets in plenty of natural light and, of course, has adequate artificial lighting for night-time and dreary days. Remove any pieces of furniture or decorations that are covering windows. Clean all windows, drapes, and curtains for a fresh appearance. Ensure all bulbs in each light fixture are working correctly.

2. Leave Pets Out of Sight

There is no doubt you love your pet, but not all buyers will find Fido or Fluffy as adorable as you do. Potential buyers who do not have pets may be immediately turned-off walking into your home to find your pet stretched out on the carpet or sitting on a windowsill. If possible, find someone to watch your beloved pets on the days you have showings or temporarily crate them in the garage.

3. Amp up the Storage Spaces

More storage is another must-have that is on almost every buyer’s checklist. Cluttered closets and rooms make spaces look smaller than they are. Instead, fill closets no more than half-way, creating storage spaces that feel as large as possible.

4. Make Your Kitchen the Focal Point

The kitchen is one of the most important rooms and can either make a buyer fall in love with a home or mark it off their list. It is well worth the time and effort to make needed repairs, updates, and carefully stage the space.

5. Use a Professional Photographer

Most buyers search online before going to see a home in person. Professional, high-quality photographs of your home’s interior and exterior are sure to attract more attention than low-quality pictures taken with your phone.

6. Spruce Up the Exterior

When potential buyers walk up to your home, the exterior is often the first impression. First impressions happen in an instant and are highly impactful. A negative first impression can cause buyers to check-out before they have even seen the home. Make sure your lawn is perfectly manicured, shrubs are pruned, and flower beds are weeded. Pressure wash or apply a fresh coat of paint to the exterior of your home to freshen it up.

7. Shop Around for the Right Realtor

Your choice of a realtor will either make or break your home selling experience. Choose the wrong realtor, and you may find that your house sits on the market for an extended length of time, and even when it does sell, you end up settling for less than the original bottom dollar. Choose a realtor who is as committed to selling your home for top dollar as you are. A great realtor will walk you step-by-step throughout the entire selling process. He or she will advise you on how best to prepare and present your home to potential buyers. However, the best realtors will even help you stage your home in a way that accentuates its best features, coordinate showings, schedule open houses, and negotiate with your best interest in mind at all times.
